Fretz’s favorite, the biggest trouble makers.

Project Goal: Weekend social events in University classrooms
Problem/Issue: key checked out in Dr. Fretz’s name, but not turned in on Friday night as required, nor Saturday, nor Sunday when Dr. Fretz was told that officers were being dispatched to students’ homes.
Lesson Learned: Turn keys in on time.

Project Goal: Develop drone delivery system for homes
Problem/Issue: Demonstrated drone in lecture hall, which is apparently a no-no, as we now know.
Lesson Learned: do not fly drones in lecture hall.

Project Goal: Create an online system and app that allows students (or anyone) to report leftover free food or events with free food. Extensive advertising with phrase “If you see something, Say something”
Problem/Issue: This phrase is owned by Department of Homeland Security.
Lesson Learned: Do not make DHS mad, take down posters quickly.

Project Goal: Create Michigan Marriage Pact to entertain 10,000 students each term
Problem/Issue: there will never be a full match 1-1 of men to women or any demographic category, meaning some participants will not receive matches. Dr. Fretz received angry email from parent of female student who was told she did not get a match, telling him he was a terrible person for allowing her daughter to be crushed in this way.
Lesson Learned: Helicopter Parents, Amirite??!!

Project Goal: Hold fun games on the Diag inspired by then popular squid game.
Problem/Issue: The “who can stay longest in the chalk square” game ran not 2-3, but like 10 hours. And when one of the last 2 finally quit, he was so mad he complained that he had been traumatized by an “unauthorized Psychology experiment”.
Lesson Learned: chalk lines are involuntary prisons

Project Goal: create a fraternity management software/website
Problem/Issue: students involved submitted fraudulent “damaged” files, skipped their presentation with false grandmother funeral, and graphics they submitted to show their work were actually copy/pasted from an existing similar product. Dr. Fretz referred them to the Dean for multiple instances of academic misconduct, who told them to write an ” I’m sorry” email, and LET THEM GO. When Dr. Fretz complained, they said that’s all they can do.
Lesson Learned: Dr. Fretz failed them. Do not lie to Dr. Fretz.

Project Goal: Develop a website to help sports gamblers educate themselves and access statistics and resources.
Problem/Issue: Parent did not like this project when student told them, complained to University.
Lesson Learned: Dr. Fretz ensured student still wanted to do it, and supported them as they did the project.
